After many years of spending New Years with friends at home, I decided to go somewhere very different over the holidays – Serbia. Three friends and I went to the beautiful capitol of Belgrade where we spent four days celebrating and sight-seeing.

I found eating Belgrade with allergies fairly straightforward. The wait staff spoke English very well at every restaurant we visited. I still used my Allergy Translation card to convey the severity of my allergies, which the seemed to be very appreciative of. Culinary highlights included a delicious pizza and a giant hamburger called “pleskavica”. I brought many safe snacks with me from home, which were mostly devoured as we partied through the night into 2014!
